[Football] How to become a professional football player: Part 1 [English version]

You might be dreaming that one day you will be playing in a stadium full of supporters, tension and goals. You might be dreaming of the whole of the supporters’ stands chanting rhythmically your name. So you want to become a successful football player? It’s not as easy as you think.

You might love football; you might feel that it completes you as a person not only physically but mentally as well. To have success as a football player you have to sacrifice a lot of personal pleasures.

Priorities

A massive example from the English football is one of the most well-known and successful English football players, David Beckham. Since he was a child, he took the ball to the park next to his house, practising his free-kick shots. He didn’t listen or follow his friends but followed something that was dear to his heart, football. He continued playing and practising every day until he was given the opportunity to shine through the Manchester United youth ranks. After a magnificent career at Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan, this example comes to show that dedication to football will always reap rewards in the future. A problem that we often see in the youth football is the youth players pushing football out of their highest priority which is what destroys their talent. Football should be above everything if you want to succeed.

Way of life

Some footballers (youth and professional) might think that 2 hours per day at the training field is enough. Unfortunately it’s not. Football is not about a simple training session and an official match during the weekend. It’s an idea, a way of life. Let’s take for example the nutrition. A serious and successful athlete should take care of his nutrition every single day and eat healthy meals in order for his body to be vigilant not only at the training sessions but throughout the day. Substances like alcohol and cigarettes must be avoided at all costs and especially for the youth players that will not only destroy their football career but their future health. In regards to sleeping regimes, it is given that athletes must go to bed early at night and the long nights partying are not allowed.

Training

To become the best in football, hard work and dedication are required. If you are focusing on becoming a professional football player, hard work is extremely important. To succeed in a professional level you need patience and persistence as well. The daily devotion to football is a must and you should see the ball as your best friend and learn how to make the best moves in order to win an opponent. The best way to develop these skills and techniques is through daily training sessions. The dedication to the training is extremely important. To give 100 per cent to the sessions shows your passion for football and helps you develop mentally and physically. “The sweat you lose whilst training, saves the blood in the war”. In order to achieve what you believe you can be you need to put in that extra effort even after the training session for a personal development. Even if you play with the ball alone in the nearest park will improve your performance during the match.
